How to spend a day of luxury at the Raffles Hotel, Singapore

Updated: May 13, 2020

Want to visit a Singapore Icon? Don't miss out on a trip to the Raffles Hotel, one of Singapore's oldest and most iconic luxury colonial hotels right in the heart of Singapore's city centre. Follow our guide to enjoy a day in this hotel complex (even if you're not staying there). It's worth the visit!

1. Start the morning with coffee and breakfast at Gather:

Indulge in some of Singapore's best freshly made French crepes for brunch in this minimalist style cafe. Don't miss out on trying their signature dishes, the bolognaise crepe, the prosciutto crepe and the portuguese tart. Cost is around $20 per person.

2. Enjoy lunch at Singapore's oldest Indian Restaurant, the Tiffin Room:

Experience fine dining north Indian cuisine at the Tiffin room, which has been apart of the Raffles Hotel since 1892. Have a local experience with meals served in golden tiffin lunch boxes and chefs coming to the side of the table to freshly prepare ingredients.

Don't miss the Seev Papdi Chaat (Crispy fried dough wafters with a peanut and sweet chutney sauce, they were our favourite dish) to start with and Paneer Butter Masala as a main dish (Indian cottage cheese in red gravy, our favourite main dish).

3. Take in the colonial architecture of the corridors and enjoy the green courtyards of the hotel grounds:

Between meals take time to enjoy the stunning colonial architecture of this hotel and browse some of the shops and courtyards. Our highlight is the staircase at the grand entrance, which is only accessible to guests or those with a restaurant reservation to the Tiffin Room.

4. Taste a Singapore Sling from the Long Bar, the place where this iconic cocktail was invented:

Don't miss out on tasting a Singapore Sling at the place where it was invented, the Raffles Hotel. While it may set you back $37 per cocktail, it's a worthwhile experience to sit in this old world colonial bar sipping the sweet and tropical cocktail while throwing peanut shells on the floor. Try to come at off peak times or you may have to wait in line to get in.

5. Enjoy an indulgent dinner at Burger and Lobster:

Finish the day with an indulgent dinner at Burger and Lobster, one of only two restaurant outlets in Singapore. Order a combo meal to try both the burger and lobster.

6. Splash out and stay for a night at the Raffles Hotel Singapore:

Enjoy a night of ultimate luxury, just like in Crazy Rich Asians and stay at the Raffles Hotel, Singapore for a night or too. See the prices and booking details here.
