How to plan your dream hens or bucks party weekend in Bali, Indonesia.

Updated: Mar 20, 2021

One of the best days of our lives without question: celebrating our soon to come wedding on the tropical island paradise of Bali with our closest girlfriends and mates. These events were a year in the planning and took us numerous quotes and research to create the perfect day. We decided to share our experience to help others save time and money to plan their dream hens or bucks weekend in Bali.

Guide to planning a hens and bucks party in Bali Indonesia
The Ultimate Guide to planning a hens or bucks party in Bali

When to visit Bali, Indonesia:

Firstly, it's important to call out that Bali has a wet and a dry season, so if you're wanting to come and enjoy the beaches, day clubs and some clear weather, make sure you come during the dry season, with the best months being Jul-Aug. To save a little money, we planned our hens, bucks and wedding mid-June, the closest dates we could get to dry season while still being in the shoulder season meaning prices weren't as high and attractions weren't crammed with other tourists.

Where to stay in Bali - Seminyak:

Once you've got your dates, the next step is to find your accommodation. For a Hens or bucks party, we recommend getting a private villa with multiple bedrooms and a private pool. This way everyone can enjoy getting ready together and playing games in the villa and cost is low when splitting between friends. We booked to stay in Seminyak to be close attractions and some great night out spots.

We stayed in a 3 bedroom villa at Keonokei Villas in Seminyak, which had a massive living area, luxurious king beds and our own private pool. Within the complex were several different villa's allowing guests to all stay together in neighbouring villas. The villa also offered a free shuttle service around Seminyak and breakfast each morning.

The cost in total for the villa was 618 AUD per night, however, split between 9 guests, this was only $69 per person per night for a 5-star experience.

Alternatively, you can try the Elysian Boutique Villa, Seminyak, another affordable luxury boutique villa stay which includes a complex of villas for multiple guests, private pool rooms a free shuttle and bike service and breakfast. Cost for a private pool villa including breakfast for 4 persons here was $315 AUD per night.

Planning your Hens Activities:

A private luxury boat hire to Nusa Lembongan or Nusa Ceningan

We booked a private boat via Bali Boat. We spent a glorious sunny day at sea, music pumping and champagne in hand as we set sail for Nusa Lembongan. Upon arrival, we jumped straight into the crystal clear blue waters below before heading to shore to enjoy lunch and an afternoon at Sandy Bay Beach Club.

What our Private Bali Boat hire experience included:

  • Full day use of the Power Catamaran to Nusa Lembongan, Ceningan and return for up to 15 pax (this was flexible as we added a few extras to our guest list).

  • Private cars to pick us all up from our villa in Seminyak and drop us back after

  • Snacks and soft drinks, mineral water on board with the option for us to bring our own alcohol or purchase it at an extra cost

  • Captain and crew

  • Snorkelling equipment and towels

The Price to hire a private boat in Bali:

The price of the charter boat was 2050 USD (3174 AUD) inclusive, split between 15 guests this was 137 AUD per person. Bali boat also offers a variety of boats with different guest numbers and prices.

Hire a private Bali photographer for the day:

We wanted all our memories to be captured without worrying about spending the day taking photos, so we found the incredibly talented (and great fun) @callmeedo to shoot our day, from the boat to our dinner. The cost of this was around 85 AUD per hour.

Free flow drinks and dinner beach side at Mano Beach House Seminyak:

After returning from our boat trip and enjoying a few games and getting ready in our villa we headed out to Mano Beach House Restaurant and Bar in Seminyak. We pre-booked a private outdoor table by the beach front which included 2 hours shared menu dining and 2 hours of free-flow cocktails.

The total cost was 1506 AUD for 12 persons or $126 per person AUD with a 50% deposit required upfront for the booking.

Dancing at Motel Mexicola, Seminyak:

To end the night we continued to Motel Mexicola in Seminyak for dancing. Here we didn't make any pre-bookings and were fine to just show up. We went on a weeknight which meant it closed around 1am.

Planning your Bucks Activities:

Getting around Bali - Minivan hire for groups

If you haven't booked an activity which includes transport for the day, it's easy to hire a mini-van to take your group around. For the guys, we booked a van through Bali Safest Driver, which for a full day cost no more than $20 per head.

Go-Karting in Bali:

We started the day heading out for a 2 hour Go-Karting private session at Karting Star Bali. which was roughly 45 AUD per person.

After go karting it was time to hit the beach clubs. We booked a private area at Omnia in Uluwatu which included, alcohol and finger food throughout the day for roughly 200 AUD per person.

A night out in Kuta:

After a full day out we headed back to the villa for pizza delivery and to get ready for the night out. We didn't pre-book any clubs but made our way through Kuta for the night.
